Unit 7: Emergency Kit

When working with fillers, an emergency pack should be kept on hand in the event of any complications.

This should include:

  • Adrenaline auto ejector (EpiPen)
  • Hyalase
  • Hydrocortisone 10mg/ml injection
  • Chlorphenamine 10mg/ml injection
  • Water for injection 10ml
  • Gloves
  • Bacteriostatic Saline
  • 5ml syringes
  • 25G needles
  • Aspirin
  • Rectogesic GTN Paste
  • Heat
  • Ice Pack
  • Using Hyalase

Hyalase (hyaluronidase) is an animal-derived enzyme that can break down hyaluronic acid. Its use within the cosmetic industry is off -license but allowed provided the patients best interest and autonomy are respected as part of informed consent.

Complications from injecting Hyalase include bruising, swelling, allergic reaction and anaphylaxis reaction. Patients with allergic reaction to wasp or bee stings should be considered as contraindicated.
